3DBrain App Reviews
I purchased this app hoping it would be a copy or something similar to 3D Brain for iPhone, but running on Snow Leopard. It is not expensive (99 cents) but it is definitely not worth any cent at all. I realized later that 3D Brain for iPhone is derived from a project called genes to cognition, available at: g2conline.org.
This application is poorly done. The rotation is clunky and performs slowly and is not precise enough. The Brain Reference section is hard to read and to use. There is no connection between the documentation and the model. Only four levels of show are available and one cannot identify and see the parts of the brain in the model. There are so many things to see and none of them are in this program. Finally, the App Store page for this program did not list the existing comment for this program. All the comments should be available in all Apple (iTunes and App Store) sites.
Not even as fully featured as the iPhone version from what i can tell. The 4 screen previews show it all. Buy the iPhone version, or pass on this app altogether.
The biggest waste of $2 I’ve ever spent in my life. The screenshots shown are the entire app. No interior structures or explanations on any structures. Don’t waste your money
I had been waiting for a good brain app for the mac since the app for mac store opened. I am VERY disappointed. There is very little detail to the 3D brain and it lacks labels, and explanations of structures and functions. 3D Brain for iphone is a far better product. Hopefully, the developers will put more work into this.
THE BRAIN show like this. its one of the best. Coul be more labels , but is geat on information and all 3D. ad more labels and will be have 5 stars. congratulations. we need medical applications like this.
if you wonder, for some reason, what the brain looks like in 3d and want to twirl it around, then this is for you. if you want to actually learn anything or use it for reference, it is useless.
There is really no use to this app. Not only are the anatomical structures not labeled, but not all of the anatomical structures of the brain are there. The app has a encyclopedia-type article that discusses the human brain and its structures, but you could have yourself time and money just by going to wikipedia. Truly a waste of time and money - do not buy this app.
This App is truly a waste of space on my computer.HOW CAN IT BE #1 download in medical apps???????? There better be an update to this, it is not even a Beta version. I will be demanding my money back asap. Thought Id give it a try because is is .99, it is HORRIBLE. I will not even let .99 slide here. Cant even see different structures of the brain etc, just the one they show on the preview and you can rotate it. Absolutely a disgrace to the company and the BRAIN! I mean look at the description its about a heart! I should have known. There are no parts of the brain here, cerebellum, unlabled nerves, the skull (yipee!) and the rest of the brain. No cross sections no anything. The encyclopedia looks like it was scanned from a textbook, you have to scroll from left to right to it. It is horrible! UPDATE: IT IS STILL A PEICE OF JUNK. NO UPDATES, USELESS
This might be a useable app for initial exposure to the brain but is really light in detail. If you want to know what the brain looks like and the major regions, and be able to rotate for different views, then this will work. But for more detail, the iPad app is far more advanced.
The graphics are very nice, however, if you purchased this app to use as a learning device, you have been deceived. There are NO anatomical lables or educational explanation of anatomical landmarks. Again, Nice graphics and that is the reason it even gets one star. Very disappointed, I was hoping it would be more like the ipone 3D brain app, which by the way, is wonderful. Sadly, it is not. Would love to change my rating, but the developer really needs to put a great deal more work into the app. Sorry if you lost your money like I did
someone would build such a beautiful app (3D graphics) and stop there. The app is 50% done, add some actual information. Pictures are worth a thousand words> in this case the 1000 words would be better than the picture. Empty content!
Half an app
Where are the inner structures of the brain? Where are the useful labels? Its nothing like the useful iphone app.
Waste of money, very disappointed
Really need a good app for the Mac this is NOT helpful
I teach neuroscience courses for graduate students. I wanted to try this app to see if I could use this in my classes. This app is a joke. No neuroanotomical or functional labels, no access to subcortical structures, terrible visual design. The main interface has a link that says “brain reference” which is practically a single page scanned from a book. This is app is literally a joke (that makes you pay 1.08 with taxes). Avoid at all costs.
